Garbage, recyclables, and green waste are picked up weekly. Service fees are determined by the size of the garbage cart. By actively recycling and composting each week, you can divert trash from landfills and actually lower your trash bills each month! Free Green Waste Kitchen Pail
Richmond residents are eligible for a free green waste kitchen pail available on the third floor of City Hall in the City Manager's Office.

Need to get rid of a fridge, mattress, furniture, holiday tree? Bulky Items and On-Call Clean-Up
Richmond residents are allowed two free, on-call curbside cleanups per year; contact Republic Services to collect bulky items, e-waste (electronic waste), extra bags of garbage, or holiday trees. Collection services are provided by Republic Services at no additional cost. Your on-call cleanup must be scheduled at least one week in advance. Residential customers can request a free annual bulky item pick-up of up to three bulky items. Residents should call Republic Services customer service at 510-262-7100 one week in advance to schedule a pick-up. Republic Services customer service representatives will provide participation guidelines and instructions to participate in the bulky item program.
Guidelines for Bulky Item Pick-Up:
Single-family residences and duplexes only.
Up to 3 household bulky items per clean-up.
Up to 5 e-waste (electronic waste) items such as computer monitors, microwaves, computers, or similar sized E-waste items, can substitute for one bulky it per clean-up.
Residential household items only.
Individual items of 200 pounds or less.
No commercial-sized appliances, household hazardous waste, toxic, explosive, infectious, construction or demolition waste
Regularly accepted bulky items include:
Appliances such as a washing machine, clothes dryer, dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, freezer, microwaves;
Mattress & box springs (a matched set of mattress and box springs count as one item);
Furniture such as a sofa, love seat, large chair, televisions, dining set, desks, dressers, tables or lawn furniture (a dining or lawn furniture set of table and chairs counts as one time);
Equally sized residential items such as a water heater, barbecue, area rug, office chair, bookshelf, exercise equipment or four tires (four tires count as one item).
It's illegal to put hazardous waste such as paint, pesticides, batteries, electronics, and fluorescent bulbs in the trash.
