Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Firefighter Trainee candidates must possess current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)

Candidates will be required to show a current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card at time of application.
 
The CPAT is administered by the California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee (CFFJAC) and measures the capabilities of firefighting recruits along eight job-specific areas: stair climb; hose drag; equipment carry; ladder raise; forcible entry; search; rescue drag; and ceiling breach and pull.
