A Day in Richmond Parks - Volunteer Day - Baxter Creek
Saturday, November 19, 2022
On Saturday, November 19, join The Watershed Project for two events focused on our parks!
Start your morning with the Love Your Bioswale for Baxter Creek event from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm. Find out how Bioswale functions to protect our watershed. After learning about the Bioswale, staff and volunteers will maintain the Bioswale together in preparation for the rainy season!
Volunteers should meet at the Booker T. Anderson Community Center Parking Lot at 960 S 47th Street. Tools gloves, water, and snacks/light meals will be provided. Bring a reusable water bottle, wear a hat and steady shoes, and be prepared to get dirty!
This event is funded by a Love Your Block Mini-Grant from the City Manager’s Office, Economic Development and Community Services Department.
Register for this event on Eventbrite.
Then, head over to Shields-Reid Park, 1410 Kelsey Street, for the Habitat Garden and Ethnobotany Workshop from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. Take part in deciding what the future Habitat Garden at the Shields-Reid Park will look like, and learn more about native and drought-tolerant plants from local speakers. Food, water, and snacks will be provided!
