[ARCHIVED] Holiday Closure Notice

Newsflash - City of Richmond Holiday Closure 2025

During the holiday season, the City of Richmond offices will be closed from December 24, 2025 thru January 1, 2026.


IMS

The City’s iMS online portal will remain available for payments.

  • Permit applications, Planning applications, or Issues/Complaints will be NOT accepted during this period.
  • The online portal and city offices will re-open on Friday, January 2, 2026.



Certain departments, deemed critically essential, will maintain either full or minimal operations during this closure.


Public Safety

Police
Fully Operational

Fire 
Operations Division will be open. Management staff are on call, and administrative staff are off.

 

Community Services - Recreation 

Richmond Recreation Complex - Winter Break Youth Camp, December 22, 2025 - January 2, 2026, and will be closed on the holidays - December 25, 2025, and January 1, 2026. 


Aquatics will be open to the public during the following times:

Richmond Plunge:  
Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
Saturday – 8:00 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm

Richmond Swim Center:
Tuesday – 7:00 am to 12:00 pm
Saturday – 9:00 am to 11:30 am
Sunday – 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm


Community Services - Library

Open on December 22 - 23, 2025, regular hours, and closed December 24 – 26, 2025. Reopens on December 27 - 30, 2025, and closes December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026, and will reopen on January 2, 2026.


Human Resources

Management staff will be on standby.


Information Technology

Essential employees are available for emergency issues.

 

Public Works

Minimal Staffing – The five Operations & Maintenance Divisions are considered essential services and have historically had mandatory minimal staffing during the City’s holiday season shutdowns:

  • Abatement
  • Facilities Maintenance
  • Fleet Maintenance
  • Parks Maintenance
  • Streets Maintenance

 

Richmond Housing Authority

Staff will be on-call, and the department will arrange for phone calls to be answered.
