If your swim skills need improvement, we provide our Lifeguard Bootcamp class. It is FREE! Swim Coaching is provided to hopeful Lifeguards, for a total of 4 meetings per month. An assessment is completed at the end of each LG Bootcamp.

To register for Lifeguard Bootcamp, it is by invite only. Please email the Aquatics Supervisor

Upcoming Lifeguard Bootcamp sessions: February and March 2026

Apply Online for A Lifeguard Position!

We can help you pass the Lifeguard course prerequisite skills (Lifeguard Bootcamp) and we can help train you to pass the Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross Lifeguard course). Strong swim skills are required. The Lifeguard course is for ages 15 and up and is provided in-person at our pools for around 25 hours (a weekend, plus 2 weekday nights). An online portion needs to be completed before the in-person training. Our goal is the recruitment and training of new lifeguards to work at our Richmond indoor pools year-round.

For more information and to find out when the next Lifeguard Bootcamp or Lifeguard Certification course begins, please contact:
