The City of Richmond is committed to building community through enriching experiences and citywide special events. These events are designed with the entire family in mind and offered throughout the year. We are able to offer many great events to our residents with the support of the public and private sector through sponsorships. February
Snow Day
Join City of Richmond Community Services Recreation for a fun-filled day featuring music, games, and plenty of snowy adventures perfect for families and friends. Bundle up in your snow gear, bring your snow saucer, and get ready to play in the snow , make memories , and enjoy delicious food available for purchase. We can’t wait to celebrate with you on the new date!
Lunar New Year Celebration
This day is the first new moon day of the first Chinese lunar month in the Lunar Calendar system. We celebrate this event with our Chinese and greater community in Richmond during February. Enjoy light refreshments and entertainment by Senior Center participants.
Black History Month Celebration
A cultural celebration of the African American community in Richmond. Enjoy a meal and entertainment from local artists; and an honoring of community members who have contributed positively to the City.

Spring Egg Hunt
Join us at Nicholl Park for our annual egg hunt.
Floating Egg Hunt
Hop on over for an egg-cellent adventure on the water! Gather your friends and family for a splashtastic Floating Egg Hunt, where colorful eggs will be drifting and waiting to be scooped up!
Join us on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Richmond Swim Center for one of two sessions.

Holi Celebration
Join us for our Annual Holi Celebration and enjoy color-play and dance. Colors provided while supplies last
Parks Rx Day
CSD, in collaboration with Contra Costa Health Services and National Park Service, holds its annual Parks Prescription (Rx) Day in April at Nicholl Park. During the event, healthcare providers, park agencies, community groups, and other program leaders will organize events and activities at Nicholl Park, encouraging participants to improve their health and well-being by embracing the health benefits of nature. Join us for lots of fun and free activities such as free health screenings, yoga, tai chi, Walk with the Doc, bikes rides/repairs and giveaways, dance, instruction volleyball/soccer, and lunch. Join us for a day of fun at your local park!

Cinco de Mayo Festival
Richmond’s Cinco de Mayo Festival, presented in collaboration with the City of Richmond and the 23rd Street Merchants Association, returns May 3, 2026, bringing live music, food, and cultural performances to 23rd Street. This milestone year promises one of the festival’s biggest turnouts yet, celebrating Mexican culture through music, food, and community spirit. Vendor applications are now open for both commercial and food participants.
Senior Information and Health Day Fair
Join us on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Richmond Auditorium for a day of fun and informative activities at the Senior Information and Health Fair Day! Located at 403 Civic Center Plaza Richmond, CA 94804.
With informational vendors, interactive exercise demonstrations, entertainment, and more, there's something for everyone at this year's event. Plus, don't forget about the 50/50 door prize - you could walk away with some extra cash! We can't wait to see you there!

Third of July Celebration
Fireworks, food, and fun are what this event is all about. Celebrate with your fellow community members at Marina Bay Park from 5:30pm-9:30pm to enjoy music and the youth play area (for a fee) until the night sky explodes with color in our 20 minute fireworks display at approximately 9:15pm.
October
Floating Pumpkin Patch
Join us for our annual Pumpkin Patch in October at the Richmond Swim Center! Please wear the appropriate swimwear required listed here.
Fall Festival
Join us for Fall themed games, displays, pumpkin hunt for prizes, farm hay ride, and an animal farm on Saturday, October 24, 2025 at Nicholl Park from noon to 2pm!

Tree Lighting
Join us for our holiday tree lighting Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium.
December
Senior Winter Ball
Join us for an evening of dinner and dancing! This event will be held at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium on December 13, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Featuring Top Shelf Classics Party and Show Band!
Candy Cane Classic Basketball Tournament
Basketball tournaments are held at various gymnasiums in December. Divisions include 10U, 12U, & 14U for both boys and girls.

Snowball Scholarship Competition
Are you a WCCUSD high school senior graduating in 2026? If so, and you attend a public, private, or charter school in Richmond, you may be eligible! Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 weighted cumulative GPA, participate in extracurricular activities that show pride and purpose in their community, and be available to attend both Snow Ball events. The application deadline is February 27, 2026.
