Probation

Upon successful completion of the fire academy, a recruit becomes a Probationary Firefighter.  The probationary period is 18 months, where the Probationary Firefighter must successfully pass examinations at the 9 and 18 month mark.

Probationary Firefighters are required to complete a number of didactic and manipulative exercises contained in the Probationary Handbook.  The Probationary Firefighter must research, practice and then demonstrate their knowledge on specified topics to a company officer.  Once the company officer is satisfied the Probationary Firefighter has demonstrated a working knowledge of the subject, he or she is signed off.
