Design Review Board

The Design Review Board serves as the primary decision-making body for the design of new development projects and most exterior alterations to existing buildings. The Board also acts as an advisory body to the Planning Commission in cases also involving a land use decision. The Board's decisions can be appealed to the Planning Commission, which may uphold, overturn, or modify the Board's decision.

The Board is composed of seven members who serve two-year terms for a maximum of four consecutive terms. To learn about vacancies and appointment procedures, you may contact the City Clerk at CityClerkDept@ci.richmond.ca.us

For all other Design Review Board-related issues, please contact Avery Stark, Planning Manager, at 510-620-6714 or by email at avery_stark@ci.richmond.ca.us

Unless otherwise noticed, meetings of the Design Review Board are at 6:00 P.M. on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings of the Design Review Board are not currently televised.
