The Richmond Tool Library came about as a result of the Love Your Block mini-grant program, when AmeriCorps VISTAs Guadalupe Morales and Kiana Ward received feedback about the high cost of tools that are seldom used. In response to this feedback and through considerable support from residents, businesses, and organizations, they founded the Richmond Tool Library - a free tool lending service for Richmond residents.
The Richmond Tool Library is a sustainable product of Love Your Block, allowing residents to beautify and revitalize their neighborhoods without having to utilize funds. The tool library has provided tools for nearly all Love Your Block mini-grant projects, Love Your Block projects, and countless more other community beautification projects.
