How Can You Help?
Report Illegally Dumped Material
Use the city's free smart phone app or call the Illegal Dumping Hot Line, (510) 965-4905, to report illegally dumped material in Richmond.
Active Illegal Dumping
If illegal dumping problems are not reported the problem often grows. Once a pile begins, it often encourages other people to pile on additional waste. The City of Richmond will fine any persons caught dumping illegally or littering can be fined up to $1,000.
If you see someone in the act of dumping illegally on private or public property:
- Maintain a low profile – don’t contact the perpetrators yourselves. Stay safe!
- Report any active illegal dumping to the Police Department by calling the non-emergency phone number, (510) 233-1214.

Bulky Item Pick-up Program for Richmond Residents
Richmond residents are eligible for a free bulky item pickup! Collections may be scheduled for single-family homes, duplexes, and multi-family properties with up to 19 units!

FREE Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off
Richmond residents can dispose of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) conveniently and for free at the West Contra Costa County Household Hazardous Waste Facility and the El Cerrito Recycling Center.

Free Mattress Drop-off Program for Residents
Richmond residents are eligible to bring three (3) mattresses per month at no cost to the West Contra Costa County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, 101 Pittsburg Ave, Richmond. Please bring proof of residency.

Solid Waste and Recycling Services
Richmond's collection services are provided by Republic Services. Visit Republic Services' website, www.republicservices.com/municipality/wccc-ca, or call 510-262-7100 for more information about commercial and residential rates, billing or account information, Pay Your Bill Online, report a missed pickup or lost or damaged carts/bins, or request on-call cleanups or bulky item collection services.

Roll-off Boxes
Republic Services is the only hauler authorized to collect waste (including construction and demolition materials) and recyclables in West Contra Costa County. Debris boxes, from 10 to 40 yards, are available on 3-day rentals for household remodeling, landscape projects, site clean-up or other projects. Rates for Debris Boxes vary depending upon box size and filled weight.
