LEAP is a free program sponsored by the Richmond Public Library in which tutors and learners work one-on-one or in small groups. LEAP's purpose is to help adults develop the skills and confidence they need to achieve their individual goals.
WHAT WE DO
Adults without a high school diploma find themselves at a disadvantage in the academic and work world. Without a diploma, adults face lower pay on the job, lack of access to some forms of financial aid and job training, and the inability to move into a career. We prepare adult learners to take the GED exam, and move to the next stage of their life.
HOW WE DO IT
LEAP prepares students for the GED by engaging in discussions, reading, problem solving, and questioning in areas of current issues, history, and science. Students also polish their writing skills and deepen their understanding of math. Students work in small groups, with individual tutors and with online GED preparation programs to be ready to take an official GED test. LEAP offers a free voucher for both a practice and official test.
