LEAP is a free program sponsored by the Richmond Public Library in which tutors and learners work one-on-one or in small groups. LEAP's purpose is to help adults develop the skills and confidence they need to achieve their individual goals.
WHAT WE DO
LEAP students want to work, be involved with their childrens education, and be part of their community. Every adult at LEAP will learn computer basics to navigate the digital world. They will learn internet searching for vital information, how to setup an email, saving and sending files, and gain competency in completing online applications for jobs, voting, health insurance and other services.
HOW WE DO IT
Every LEAP student is offered a one week course in computer basics. As part of a small group, students work at a desk top at their own pace to practice and polish their computer skills. Volunteers are available to support them by answering questions or demonstrating tasks. LEAP students have free access to computers during open hours to practice typing, use online educational programs or access vital information for job, family and community concerns.
