The artist spent her early childhood in Richmond. The tapestry which weighs 250 pounds, has woven pieces wrapped around foam† and cotton, the work is 22 by 10 feet. The colors were designed by the artist, but the materials were dyed. The material was woven in sections because that was the simplest way to do it. The artist received both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
