The Bay Area artist, professor emeritus, University of California, Davis, (chair, Department of Art mid-1990s) is known for her sculptural works which are in a number of permanent museum collections. Both undergraduate and graduate degrees were from University of California, Berkeley. Laky was founder/director of Fiberworks, Center for the Textile Arts, Berkeley in 1973. The weaving itself (10’ x 25’ x 2’) was formed in 9 sections of plaited, hand-woven rope. The artist, born in Budapest, Hungary, lives and works in San Francisco.
