Lucas Park Pollinator Garden Work Party, Urban Forest Advisory Committee Lucas Park Pollinator Gardening Group

On March 2, 2024, 9 volunteers formed a work party to convert a weed patch of grass into a native plant garden. In the span of 20 hours, they managed to plant 300 seeds, 60 native Californian plants, and gather two full bags of trash! They also dug out 2,000 square feet of weeds, replaced the empty area with 2,400 square feet of healthy mulch. In the end, all their hard work left Lucas Park a more attractive site that would support healthy ecosystems for future generations to come.

Mendocino, Mendocino Park Pollinator Garden Group

On December 2, 2023, the Mendocino Park Pollinator Gardening Group returns; with more plans to restore the park and with more volunteers---some even from Mendocino neighborhood! Over ten volunteers helped pull out tons of weeds, dig out stumps, and plant more California native plants. Together, community members were able to socialize in the outdoors, and plant colorful flowers and plants that will restore the ecosystem and circle of life.
