Welcome to the Richmond Police Department’s Online Police Reporting System
This system allows you to file a police report online, immediately, and at no cost. Once submitted and approved, you will be able to print a copy for your records.
Before beginning, please confirm the following:
This is not an emergency.
The incident occurred within Richmond (CA) city limits.
There are no known suspects. A known suspect is someone who can be identified by name, or whose license plate number or other identifying information is available.
The incident did not occur on a State Freeway.
⚠️ Please note: Online reports will not be investigated by RPD officers or detectives. They are intended for documentation purposes, such as filing with insurance companies or financial institutions.
What Happens Next
If you answered “yes” to all the questions above, you may file your report online. After completing the process, you will:
See the confirmation message: “Report Submitted Successfully.”
Receive a temporary report number to reference while your report is being reviewed.
Once your report is approved, you will receive a final case number along with a PDF copy of your approved report that you can print for your records.
Important Information
The Richmond Police Department reviews all online reports before assigning a case number to each report.
If further investigation or information is required, you may be contacted by telephone or email.
If you have not received a response after seven days, you can contact the RPD Records Division at 510-620-6675. Please have your temporary report number available.
Filing a false police report is a crime.

The system accepts reports for specific non-emergency incidents, including:
Property Damage / Vandalism
Lost Property
Annoying Phone Calls
Thefts (Excluding stolen vehicles)
Hit & Runs
